Madagascar Does Wonder in Paddy Production

Twenty farmers were selected under Front Line Demonstration in Lakshmanpur, the adopted village of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rewa for Paddy Cultivation through Madagascar Method under aerobic condition.

Mr. Jagannath Kushwaha son of Mr. Ram Siya Kushwaha was one among the twenty who used 4 Kg Seed / Acre JRH-4 variety to prepare nursery on 25th of June after treating with Dithane-M-45. Thirteen days old single seedlings per hill were transplanted at a distance of 25 cms with the help of Paddy Marker. At the time of transplanting 30 Kg DAP + 10 Kg Urea+ 10 Kg Zinc Sulfate was used. After 20 days of transplanting first weeding was done and 30 Kg DAP + 10 Kg Urea was top dressed. Remaining g dose of fertilizer i.e 20 Kg of DAP+10 Kg Urea was given at the tillering stage.

With practice of such management 37 tillers per plant on an average were counted which was almost double the number of tillers from anaerobic cultivation practices.

Mr. Jagannath Kushwaha reports that he got an average productivity of 79.4 q per hectare and earned Rs. 42570/- profit per hectare. He is happy and found Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the technology both trustworthy
