Seed Germination for Low Cost of Cultivation and More Profit In Agriculture

In Rewa District, farmers sow seed in amount much above the required rate, which increases the cost of cultivation.
During the visit to Nai-Garhi, Raipur Karculiyan and Hanumana Block of Rewa District , there were only two to three farmers found, who did seed germination test before sowing, though it is very important step prior to sowing.

This fact supports the trial conducted in adopted village, Laxmanpur and Khaur on Pre-sowing Seed Management in Gram in which farm women have done germination test followed by seed treatment with 2 g / Kg Seed Cabendazeim + Diathane M-45 Combination available by the trade name Saaf and then inoculation of seed with 600 g PSB + 500 g Rhizobium culture.

Pragya, a young farm women got 75 % germination in the test.

Pragya's father came to KVK-Rewa next day have told that he sold off seed to 5 farmers and is likely to earn profit. Germination test acted as an advertisement of seed for the family.

Seed Germination Test actually helps the farmer to assess the quality of the seed well before sowing and helps to adjust the seed rate for recommended plant population in the field which leads to good productivity and hence good profit.
